Hello World

It’s been 3 years since I bought this domain with the intention of starting a blog. I think it’s finally time.

Hi reader, I’m Nicolas, a Frontend Engineer who probably thinks too much about software.

Over the years, I kept finding myself in the same situation: a code review, a conversation, a Slack thread and me, explaining the same idea or concept to a different engineer. Not always complex things, actually often quite simple ones, but things I had developed a specific way of thinking about that others hadn’t really explored.

After noticing this pattern enough times, I started taking notes, short explanations I could reuse when the same topic came up again. At some point I thought:

“I should just write an article about this.”

Somewhere along the way I accidentally developed a habit of explaining things in writing. I never intentionally built that skill, it just happened. But I’ve realized that this habit of writing things down is actually useful beyond just my own notes or direct conversations. I can go deeper on a topic, add examples, and share it with anyone who needs it, not just the person in front of me.

I still can’t fully explain why I enjoy writing, but I do. Let’s see where this goes.
